DATES: June 22, 2002 or August 10, 2002 START TIME: 8:00 AM LOCATION: Square Deal Sportsmen Inc. Range building and rifle range - NY Rte. 26, Maine, NY ELIGIBILITY: Open to all adults and all juniors that are physically fit to handle a service rifle. Juniors under 14 years of age MUST be accompanied by an adult sponsor. PURPOSE: This is an entry level program to introduce new junior and adult shooters to competitive shooting. The class is also open to anyone interested in improving their shooting ability. The course will emphasize firearms safety, basic marksmanship, range procedures, NRA rules and the maintenance of firearms. ENTRY FEES: Juniors (age 12 to 20 years of age) $ 8.00 Adults $ 25.00 Late Registration fees: (if available) Juniors $ 10.00 Adults $ 35.00 (Entries will be limited to the first 20 entries) REGISTRATION: Is by MAIL ONLY. Absolutely NO phone entries. Registration MUST be accompanied by FULL payment or entry is denied. Registration must be received no later than TWO days prior to the class date. CANCELLATIONS: Notification of cancellation must be given one day prior to the class date and the full fee will be refunded. If you do not show with no prior notification, there will be NO refund. ATTENDANCE: Junior and unclassified adult shooters MUST attend the classroom session in order to be eligible for the live firing phase. All participants will be required to score targets. RIFLES & AMMUNITION: Any rifle with metallic sights, capable of being loaded with a 5 round stripper clip, 8 round clip or magazine and can be equipped with a sling may be used. The service rifle M1, M14 or AR15 are preferred. A limited number of service M1 Garand 30-06 rifles are available and also a limited number of M1 Carbine 30M1 rifles for juniors are available. Service grade ammunition will be provided for the M1 30-06 and the 30M1 Carbine ONLY. EQUIPMENT: All participants MUST provide eye & hearing protection for the live fire sessions. The following items are desirable but NOT MANDATORY - shooting coat or suitable jacket, ground mat and spotting scope or field glasses. It is also a good idea to wear boots, outdoor clothing for weather conditions and to have rain gear available. CLUB GROUNDS: From the North - Take Rt. 81 South to Exit 8 at Whitney Point, turn left at bottom of ramp and follow signs for Rt. 26 South ( go past the Hess Mart on right, through the light and take next right on Rt. 26 South) for approx. 8 miles to Glen Aubrey. Go approx. 2.5 miles more from Glen Aubrey on Rt. 26 and entrance to Club Site is just past the big white farm house on right (house has pillars in front and 2 silos in back) and follow dirt road over bridge and up the hill to the range. From the South/East/West - Take Rt. 81 North from south and get on Rt. 17 West..... From Rt. 17 East or West take Exit 67N to Rt. 26 North. (go across river and Rt. 26 exit is just past underpass and exit right) Follow Rt. 26/17C ( go past U-E High School, McDonalds, and Eckerd Drugs ) to corner of Main Street and Nanticoke Ave, turn right and follow Rt. 26 North signs. Go approx 9.9 miles and entrance to Club Site is 1 mile from the intersection of Rt.26 and East Maine Road.
